Your car insurance does not provide cover for your caravan

Caravan insurance is not a legal requirement in the UK, and as a result some people are choosing to rely on their car insurance policy instead.

But what if something goes wrong?

If you choose to rely on your car insurance policy, you may discover that your caravan is only covered by third party liability. This means that if you were involved in a road accident that was your fault while towing your caravan, you would only be covered for damage to a third party. Any damage to your own caravan would not be covered.

In addition, any thefts from your caravan, or any damage that takes place when not hitched to the insured tow car, would not be covered.

Here at Club Care we have analysed our touring caravan insurance claims data and discovered that just 1% of claims were for third party damage, which means that an incredible 99% of insurance claims would not be covered by a car insurance policy.

Considering the fact that the average insurance claim is 16 times the cost of an average policy, it really does make good sense to obtain specialist caravan insurance for complete peace of mind.

With touring caravan insurance policies through Club Care starting at just £48 per year, it is a small price to pay to ensure that your touring caravan is fully protected, regardless of what happens to it.
